WIEDER TOPAKTUELL: DAS ARGYLEMUSTER / UP TO DATE AGAIN: THE ARGYLE PATTERN

Hallo ihr Lieben,

wer hätte gedacht, dass dieses Muster wieder so beliebt wird, nachdem es jahrelang als Inbegriff der Spießigkeit angesehen wurde. Aber wenn man sich die Fotos der Fashionistas oder auch die aktuellen Fashion Shows anschaut, scheint es so beliebt zu sein wie nie. Ich rede vom traditionellen Argylemuster, das derzeit ein Musthave in jedem gut sortierten Kleiderschrank zu sein scheint.

who would have thought that this pattern would become that popular again after it had been viewed as the epitome of stuffiness for a long time. But when you look at the photos of the fashionistas and watch the latest fashion shows, it seems to be as popular as never before. I´m talking about the traditional Argyle pattern, which currently seems to be a must have in every well-stocked wardrobe.

Das Argylemuster ist ein rautenförmiges Karomuster, das seinen Ursprung in den schottischen Highlands hat. Es ist das Tartan des Clans der Campbells von Argyll. Heute ziert es die Pullunder und andere Kleidungsstücke der Fashionistas. Ich habe auch einen Argyle-Pullunder im Schrank. Er ist schon ziemlich alt. Ich weiß gar nicht mehr genau, wann ich ihn gekauft habe. Es muss wohl in den Neunzigern gewesen sein. Der Pullunder ist schwarz, und das Argylemuster ist cremeweiß, grau und rot.

Ich habe drei Looks mit meinem Argyle-Pullunder zusammengestellt: einen im Business-Style, einen verspielten und einen sportlichen. Los geht’s:

The Argyle pattern is a diamond-shaped check pattern, which has its origin in the Scottish Highlands. It´s the tartan of the Campbell clan of Argyll. These days it adorns the fashionistas´ sweater vests and other items of clothing. I also have an Argyle sweater vest in my cupboard. It´s quite old. I can´t really remember when I bought it. It must have been in the nineties. It´s black and the Argyle pattern is off-white, grey and red.

I combined three looks with my Argyle sweater vest: first one is business style, next one is a more playful one and the last one is a sporty look. Here we go:

Den ersten Look könnte man im Büro oder zu einem anderen formellen Anlass tragen, na ja, bis auf die Schuhe natürlich. Die Bikerboots habe ich ausgesucht, um das Formelle zu brechen. Sonst wäre mir das nämlich dann doch zu brav geworden (ich wollte mich ja nicht verkleiden). Zu meinem Pullunder gesellt sich ein cremefarbenes Shirt mit Schluppe, ein grauer Plisseerock und besagte Bikerboots.

The first look could be worn at work or for another formal occasion, okay, except the shoes of course. I chose the biker boots to break the formal impression. Otherwise the look would have been too ´well behaved´ (I didn´t intend to disguise). My sweater vest comes along with an off-white shirt with a bow, a grey pleated skirt and the mentioned biker boots.

In nächsten Look bekommt mein Pullunder Gesellschaft von einem rot-gemusterten Midikleid, das mehrere Stufen hat. Dazu trage ich schwarze Chelseaboots. In dieser Kombination kann ich das Kleid schon im Frühling tragen oder aber an kühleren Sommertagen, dann aber mit Sandalen oder Chucks. So würde ich (vorausgesetzt es geht irgendwann dann doch mal wieder) zum Shoppingbummel, in den Biergarten, oder zum Kaffeeklatsch gehen. Ich bin, wie ihr seht, vorbereitet!

In my next look the sweater vest is accompanied by a red floral midi-dress with a tiered skirt. I´m wearing black Chelsea boots with it. In this combination I can already wear the dress in spring and also at chilly summer days. Then I would wear sandals or chucks with it. Provided it´s possible again some day, I would wear this look for a shopping tour, at the beer garden or when I meet my girls at the café. You see, I´m prepared!

Und nun wird es sportlich, denn ich trage Sneakers und eine graue Jeans zum Pullunder. Außerdem eine hellblaue Hemdbluse. Wenn ich noch eine Jacke drüber ziehe, kann ich in den Supermarkt oder auf den Markt flitzen, das ist ja auch eine sportliche Betätigung, stimmt’s?

And now it´s gonna be sporty, because I´m wearing sneakers and grey jeans with my sweater vest. Furthermore a light blue shirt blouse. When I add a jacket as well, I´m ready to dash to the supermarket or the vegetable market. That´s also sporty activity, right?

So, das war´s von mir in Sachen Argylemuster. Gut, dass ich das gute Stück nicht in den Altkleidersack gesteckt habe! / So, that was my share in matters of Argyle pattern. Good that I haven’t put this vintage darling into the old clothes bag!
