UPCYCLING: EIN MIDIKLEID ENTSTEHT / UPCYCLING: A MIDI DRESS IS MADE

Hallo ihr Lieben,

heute möchte ich euch mein letztes Upcycling-Projekt vorstellen. Ich hatte schon seit ein paar Jahren ein kurzes Sweatshirtkleid im Schrank, das ich noch nie anhatte. Ich habe mich einfach nicht wohl darin gefühlt. Daher beschloss ich, ein Midikleid daraus zu machen. Das ging folgendermaßen:

Ich habe das Kleid in 2 Teile geschnitten und den unteren Teil durch einen längeren ersetzt. Dafür habe ich einen karierten Sweatshirtstoff verwendet, den ich noch in meinem Fundus hatte und der prima zum hellgrauen oberen Teil passt. Das neue Unterteil sollte folgende Merkmale bekommen: eine kleine Falte im Rücken, Seitenschlitze, aufgesetzte Taschen und offene Nähte an der Verbindungsnaht, den Taschen und den Ärmelbündchen. Die Ärmel habe ich bei der Gelegenheit gekürzt, denn sie waren viel zu lang.

Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich sehr zufrieden. Es ist ein kuscheliges Midikleid für zu Hause geworden, das sich aber auch sehr gut in der Öffentlichkeit sehen lassen kann, findet ihr nicht?

Hi my dears,

today I’d like to present you my latest upcycling project. I´ve had a short sweatshirt dress in my cupboard for some years, but I´ve never worn it. I simply didn´t feel comfortable in it. That´s why I decided to make a midi dress of it. It went like this:

I cut the dress in two pieces and replaced the bottom part by a longer one. I used a checkered sweatshirt fabric, which I found in my stocks and which suits nicely with the light grey upper part. The new bottom part was supposed to have the following features: a small fold in the back, side slits, patch pockets and open seams at the connection seam, the pockets and the cuffs. I shortened the sleeves on this occasion, because they were way too long.

I´m very satisfied with the result. It turned out a cosy midi dress for home, which can be also seen in public very well, don´t you think so?

KUSCHELIGES HOODIEKLEID / COSY HOODIE DRESS

Hallo meine Lieben,

ich möchte mal behaupten, dass Hoodies in keinem Kleiderschrank fehlen. Sei es in Pulloverform, als Jacke oder seltener auch als Kleid. Da wir aus gegebenem Anlass in den letzten 8 Monaten viel mehr Zeit zu Hause verbracht haben als üblich und das auch noch eine ganze Weile machen müssen, liegt unser derzeitiger Fokus eher auf bequemer Kleidung als auf schicken Klamotten. Wo soll man bitte letztere zur Zeit auch tragen? Die Fashiondesigner haben sich auch sofort auf diese Situation eingestellt, und so sah man kürzlich bei den Fashionweeks so viele Hoodies und Jogginghosen wie noch nie. Außerdem sind die gezeigten Kleidungsstücke durchweg viel tragbarer und bequemer ausgefallen als sonst üblich.

In diesem Zusammenhang kann man auch mein Maxi-Hoodiekleid sehen, das ich keinesfalls nur zu Hause tragen kann. Es lässt sich nämlich so unterschiedlich stylen, dass ich mich fast überall damit sehen lassen könnte. Ich zeige euch das Kleid einmal mit coolen weißen Schnürboots, dann etwas schicker mit Gürtel und Chelsea Boots und in der Outdoor-Version mit Mantel.

I´d like to assert, that there is no cupboard without a hoodie. Be it as a sweater, a cardigan or sometimes as a dress. The fact that we have spent much more time at home than normal during the past 8 months, and that we have to the next time as well, makes us put our current focus on clothes, that are comfortable rather than chic. And honestly, where should we wear the latter these days? The fashion designers too adapted there creations to this situation, and so they recently presented so many hoodies and jogging pants in their shows as never before. Furthermore their creations were in every way more wearable and comfortable than usually.

My maxi hoodie dress suits perfectly in this context and I can easily wear it everywhere and not only at home. Depending on the way I style it, it appears quite differently. I show you the dress in a cool way with laced white boots, then a bit more chic with a belt and Chelsea boots, but also the outdoor version with a coat.

ALTWEIBERSOMMER IM ROTEN FOLKLOREKLEID/ INDIAN SUMMER WITH RED FOLKLORE DRESS

Hallo ihr Lieben,

ich hätte niemals gedacht, dass ich jetzt, wo der September sich fast dem Ende neigt, immer noch mein wunderschönes rotes Folklorekleid tragen kann. Aber dieses herrliche Wochenende mit Temperaturen von 25 Grad und drüber bietet geradezu ideale Bedingungen für dieses Schmuckstück. Ich habe das Kleid erst kürzlich im Juni diesen Jahres erstanden und erst einmal getragen. Danke Petrus für dieses Wochenende!

I wasn’t expecting at all that now, at the near end of September, I would still be able to wear my gorgeous folklore dress. But this lovely weekend with temperatures of 25 degrees and more offers perfect conditions for this beauty. I bought the dress just recently this June, and I’ve worn it only once. Thanks Saint Peter for this weekend!

GELBES BOHOKLEID – DAS WILL ICH NIE WIEDER AUSZIEHEN! / YELLOW BOHO DRESS – I WANT TO LIVE IN IT!

Hallo ihr Lieben,

manche Kleider zieht man an und möchte sie nie wieder ausziehen. So geht es mir auch mit diesem gelben Bohokleid. Man wirft es über und ist angezogen. Es hat die richtige Mischung aus schick und lässig, so dass man es fast zu jeder Gelegenheit tragen kann, auch braucht es nicht viele Accessoires, damit ein Look daraus wird. Und da der Sommer ja noch einmal in die Verlängerung gegangen ist, kommt das Kleid noch mal zur Geltung!

Ich habe zu meinem Kleid eine Basttasche und meine cremefarbenen Mules kombiniert. Wenn man dann noch eine Muschelkette dazu trägt, kann man glatt Urlaubsgefühle bekommen – sogar zu Hause auf der Terasse!

sometimes you find a dress which you want to live in. That´s what I feel when I´m wearing this yellow Boho dress. You throw it over and at once you are dressed properly. It´s the perfect mix of chic and casual, so that you can wear it for almost every occasion. It doesn´t need a lot of accessories either to become a look. And as the summer gives us some overtime, the dress is still in the game.

I matched a raffia bag and my nude coloured mules with my dress. And when you additionally wear a shell necklace, you almost feel like holiday – even at home on the patio!

ROTES LEOKLEID MIT UND OHNE GÜRTEL / RED LEOPARD DRESS WITH AND WITHOUT A BELT

Hallo ihr Lieben,

schon im Herbst letzten Jahres habe ich mir dieses rote Leokleid gekauft. Da es aus einem leichten Baumwollstoff besteht und somit eher für sommerliche Temperaturen geeignet ist, habe ich es erst kürzlich zum ersten Mal getragen. Ich habe vorher ausprobiert, ob es mit oder ohne Gürtel schöner aussieht (dabei sind auch die Fotos entstanden). Die Entscheidung fiel mir sehr schwer, denn mir gefällen beide Varianten. Ich hatte es dann schließlich mit Gürtel an, aber beim nächsten Einsatz werde ich mal den Gürtel weg lassen.

Das Kleid ist durchgeknöpft und besitzt einen Kragen und Seitentaschen. Bei dem Gürtel handelt es sich um einen Bastgürtel, der bestimmt schon 30 Jahre alt und mein treuer Sommerbegleiter ist. Er hat schon die halbe Welt gesehen, hihi.

I bought this red leopard dress already last year in autumn. It´s made of a light cotton fabric and so it´s rather more suitable for the warmer temperatures of summer. That´s why I wore it for the first time only recently. I tried before, if it looks better with or without a belt (that´s when I made these photos). I couldn´t really make up my mind, because I like both variations. In the end I wore it with the belt, but next time I´ll leave the belt out.

The dress is buttoned down and has got a collar. The belt is made of raffia and it has been my loyal summer companion for at least 30 years. It has travelled half the world already, hihi.

ENDLICH FERTIG: BLAUES SEIDENKLEID MIT RÜSCHEN / FINALLY FINISHED: BLUE SILK DRESS WITH RUFFLES

Corona hat durchaus positive Nebenwirkungen: Die Fenster sind geputzt, die Schränke ausgemistet und Vieles, was man so vor sich hergeschoben hatte, ist auch erledigt. So hatte ich z.B. seit mindestens 2 Jahren ein angefangenes Kleid aus taubenblauer Seide herumliegen, das darauf wartete, fertig gemacht zu werden. Denkt nicht, dass ich seither nicht genäht hätte, Nähen ist fast eine Dauerbeschäftigung von mir. Aber bei diesem Kleid wusste ich einfach nicht genau, wie es denn werden sollte. Den ursprünglichen Schnitt hatte ich verworfen, nachdem das Oberteil fast fertig war. Ich mache meine Schnitte immer selbst (habe Textilgestaltung studiert, u.a. Schnitttechnik) und suchte nun nach einer neuen Idee. Nun ja, jetzt ist es ein luftiges Hängerchen geworden mit kleinen Rüschen an den halblangen Ärmeln und am Ausschnitt. Ich bin sehr zufrieden!

Corona definitely has positive aspects too: The windows are cleaned, cupboards are tidied out and much more is done, that had been pushed off for so long. For example the dove blue silk dress, that had been waiting half-finished in my closet for at least two years to get ready. Don´t think that I hadn´t sewn since then, sewing is almost a permanent thing of mine. But I simply had no idea how this dress should look like in the end. I had discarded the original pattern after the top part was nearly finished. I normally make my own patterns (I studied textile art, including making patterns) and now I couldn`t make up my mind about this dress. Well, finally it came out a light, loose dress with little ruffles on the neckline and the half length sleeves. I´m very happy with it!

BRAUNES LEOKLEID MIT VOLANTS / BROWN LEOPARD DRESS WITH RUFFLES

Hallo ihr Lieben,

es hat eine Weile gedauert, bis ich mich für Leomuster erwärmen konnte, aber mittlerweile bin ich sogar Fan. Mein Kleiderschrank beherbergt inzwischen einige Teile mit diesem Muster. Eins davon zeige ich euch heute. Dieses Kleidchen wohnt schon seit letzten Herbst bei mir, da habe ich es mir nämlich im Sale gegönnt. Leider konnte ich es bisher noch nie tragen, denn zuerst kam der Winter und dann Corona und der „Hausarrest“. Aber das wird sich jetzt ändern! Jetzt ist es endlich warm genug, um mein Kleid auszuführen, und sei es nur zum Einkaufen! Es darf doch wohl nicht sein, dass in diesem Sommer 95% der Sachen im Schrank-Arrest verbringen müssen, oder?

Das Kleid besteht aus einem luftigen Viskosegemisch und hat Midilänge. Das Leomuster ist blau-grau-rosa auf hellbraunem Grund. An den halblangen Ärmeln und am Saum hat das Kleid Volants. Ich trage dazu farblich passende Espadrilles und eine Sonnenbrille, die ebenfalls Leomuster aufweist. Eine lange blaue Kette mit Tassel und ein passendes Armband ergänzen den Look. Wenn es kühler ist, kann ich eine Jeansjacke oder einen Blazer darüber anziehen.

it took quite a while until I could warm up for the leopard print, but meanwhile I´m a fan. My closet keeps several pieces with this print by now. I´m showing you one of them today. This lovely dress has been living with me since last autumn already, I bought it at the end of last year´s summer sale. Unfortunately I have never worn it before, because once I had it, winter came and then Corona and the „house arrest“. But now it´s time for a change! Meanwhile it´s warm enough to take my dress for a walk, if necessary for going shopping! It shouldn´t be that 95% of the clothes have to stay arrested in the closet this summer, should it?

The dress is made of a Viscose mixture and it has midi length. The leopard print is blue-grey-pink on a light brown background. There are ruffles at the half-length sleeves and at the hem. I´m wearing matching espadrilles with the dress and sunglasses, that have a leo print as well. A long blue necklace with a tassel and a matching bracelet complement the look. When it´s chilly outside, I can add a blazer or a jeans jacket.

BLUMENKLEID BLAU UND GRÜN / FLORAL DRESS BLUE AND GREEN

Hallo ihr Lieben,

Blumenkleider sind schon seit Jahren fester Bestandteil der Sommermode, und jedes Jahr findet man neue Varianten. Obwohl ich bereits einige besitze, konnte ich nicht widerstehen, als ich dieses hier sah, denn Schnitt und Farbe haben mich sehr angezogen. Es ist midilang und hat lange Ärmel mit Manschetten, einen Kragen und ist bis zur Taille geknöpft. Das weite Rockteil hat zusätzlich unten einen Volant. Das Kleid besteht aus Viskose und vermittelt somit ein angenehmes Tragegefühl, was mir sehr wichtig ist. Ich trage am liebsten Naturmaterialien oder zumindest einen Mix mit Naturmaterialien.

In meiner Jugend war es verpönt, Blau und Grün gleichzeitig zu tragen. Inzwischen ist nichts mehr unmöglich, da wird sogar Rot mit Pink oder Violett mit Orange kombiniert. Jedenfalls sieht man an meinem Blumenkleid, wie gut Blau mit Grün harmonieren. Zusammen mit Beige, Weiß und ein wenig Schwarz ergibt sich ein harmonischer Farbmix, an dem keine Modepolizei der Welt etwas auszusetzen haben könnte!

Floral dresses have been a fixed component of summer fashion for years already, and every year new variations are found. Although I already own some of them, I couldn´t resist, when I saw this one, because its cut and print attracted me a lot. It has midi length and long sleeves with cuffs, a collar, and its buttoned down to the waist. The wide skirt has an additional ruffle. The dress is made of Viscose and it´s very comfy to wear. This is very important to me. I prefer wearing natural materials or at least a mix with natural materials.

When I was young it was a no-go to wear green and blue together. Meanwhile everything is possible, even red is combined with pink or violet with orange. In any case my floral dress is the best prove how beautifully blue and green go together. In further combination with beige, white and a bit of black such a harmonic mix of colours was created, no fashion police in the world could complain about!

SCHWARZ-WEIß KARIERT: MIDIKLEID MIT WEITEM ROCK / CHECKERED BLACK AND WHITE: MIDI DRESS WITH A WIDE SKIRT

Hallo ihr Lieben,

entsprechend der Farbenlehre sind Schwarz und Weiß keine Farben, sondern sog. Nichtfarben, und sie kommen auch nicht im Farbkreis vor. Aber im Sprachgebrauch werden sie trotzdem als Farben bezeichnet. Tatsächlich gehören beide sogar zu den ausgesprochen Lieblings’farben‘ vieler Fashionistas. Auch zu meinen! Wen wundert es da, dass mir dieses Kleid ins Auge sprang und prompt in meinem Schrank landete. Es hat einen weiten Rock, nicht ganz so weit wie ein Tellerrock, einen Kragen und lange Ärmel mit Manschetten. Der Stoff ist eine Viskosemischung mit Elastan. Das Kleid ist fast knöchellang, so wie ich es am liebsten mag.

Ich trage einen weißen Gürtel und weiße Stiefeletten zum Kleid. Meine weiße Tasche mit den schwarzen Henkeln passt ebenfalls optimal dazu. Im Frühling werde ich meinen weißen Blazer dazu tragen, bis dahin muss es ein Mantel sein.

according to the colour theory black and white are no colours, but so called non-colours, and they don´t appear in the colour wheel either. But in the language use they are called colours anyway. Actually they both are among the very favourite ´colours` of many a fashionista. Me included! So it comes as no surprise, that this dress caught my eyes and promptly ended up in my closet. It has a wide skirt, not quite as wide as a circle skirt, a collar and long sleeves with cuffs. The fabric is a viscous blend with a bit of spandex. The dress has ankle-length, the way I like it best.

I´m wearing a white belt and white booties with the dress. My white shopper-bag whith its black handles go perfectly with it. In spring I will wear my white blazer with it, until then it has to be a coat.

DEN HERBST IM STRICK-ZWEITEILER BEGRÜßEN / WELCOMING AUTUMN IN A KNITTED TWO PIECE

Hallo meine Lieben,

der Herbst ist nun da, und wie könnte man ihn angemessener begrüßen als in einem leichten Strickkleid? Dieses hier in cremeweiß mit beerefarbenem graphischem Muster ist ein Zweiteiler. Ein Oversizepulli gesellt sich zu einem schmalen Midirock. Beide Teile lassen sich aber auch wunderbar mit anderen Partnern kombinieren, das habe ich schon ausprobiert. Die helle Farbe des Kleides knüpft noch an den Sommer an, während das Material schon den kühleren Temperaturen des Herbstes angepasst ist. Gefällt euch der Look?

autumn has arrived now, and what could be better than welcoming him in a light knit dress? This one in off-white with a graphic print is a two piece. An oversized sweater joins a slim midi skirt. Both pieces can perfectly be combined with different partners, too. I´ve tried this already. The light colour of the dress refers to the summer, while the material is already adapted to the cooler temperatures of autumn. Do you like the look?
